The Call for Planetary Suicide
Two decades ago, in 2003, scholars at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences made the following statement, about what their research about the West made it so powerful.
One of the things we were asked to look into was what accounted for the success, in fact, the pre-eminence of the West all over the world. We studied everything we could from the historical, political, economic, and cultural perspective. At first, we thought it was because you had more powerful guns than we had. Then we thought it was because it was because you had the best political system. Next, we focused on your economic system. But in the past twenty years, we have realized that the heart of your culture is your religion: Christianity. That is why the West is so powerful. The Christian moral foundation of social and cultural life was what made possible the emergence of capitalism and then the successful transition to democratic politics. We don’t have any doubt about this.[i]
The Chinese Communist Party could have chosen to allow their own citizens to have the same God-given freedoms that would have made China even greater than the USA and other western nations. Tragically, the CCP did not embrace religious freedom for their nation, but instead chose to treat religious groups not willing to be controlled by it as threats to their power and authority. The CCP adopted some economic freedoms and welcomed massive western investment and technology, while at the same time they persecuted Christians and practitioners of other faiths as a threat to their own power and control.
For example, here is a news article about a Christian megachurch in northern China that was demolished in early 2018. Anything they can’t control, they will destroy.
You might think that the largest corporations in the West would want to protect the free-market system that allowed them to develop from humble beginnings into multi-billion or even trillion-dollar leviathans, but no, they are working HAND-IN-HAND with Communist China, even helping the CCP to develop more ways to surveil every action of each person living in the country using facial recognition and artificial intelligence.
The goal of the Great Reset advocated by the World Economic Forum and investment managing behemoths like Black Rock is not to respect free market competition and the prosperity and growth that come with that, but instead to embrace “Capitalism with Chinese Characteristics,” meaning approved corporate monopolies that partner with the State in order to monitor and surveil a distracted and entertained population.
Of course, the businesses embracing Capitalism with CCP characteristics don’t say they are doing so in the name of Corporate Communism aka woke fascism, they say they are doing it in the name of preventing a worldwide environmental catastrophe.
Marxist atheism in Communist countries like China was not the only threat to the western ideal of God-given freedoms. In the early 1970s, scientists in America and Europe warned of an imminent worldwide environmental catastrophe due to overpopulation and continued economic growth. Here is what they concluded, in A Blueprint for Survival, signed in 1972 by over 30 of the leading scientists of the day.
“Continued exponential growth of consumption of materials and energy is impossible. Present reserves of all but a few metals will be exhausted within 50 years if consumption rates continue to grow as they are.”
Blueprint called for a radical overhaul of human institutions in order to prevent “the breakdown of society and the irreversible disruption of the life-support systems of the planet.” Fifty years later, despite rising consumption, increasing population and the growth of prosperity in formerly poor nations around the world, the world supply of metals is NOT exhausted, but the rhetoric that we must avoid an imminent “climate change catastrophe” has gotten even louder.
The call in the Club of Rome’s 1972 report, The Limits to Growth and A Blueprint for Survival has been resurrected.
Here is Dennis Meadows, co-author of The Limit to Growth report, speaking in 2017.
Well, there you have it. Dennis Meadows, all of whose predictions in the 5 decades since 1972 have proven to be wrong, is very, very sorry that we will have to reduce our planet’s population by 80-90%, or by instituting a dictatorship to make sure people do not seek too much freedom. He hopes that ending the lives of billions of people can be accomplished in a “civil” or a “peaceful” way. He says he doesn’t want to see violence, except the kind where you mass murder billions of people in a way that they do not realize what is happening until it is too late.
Maybe you could release a virus around the world that kills mostly the elderly, and then scare the rest of the population to give up their freedoms in the name of “protecting” them. And you could mandate that healthy young and middle-aged people who have zero risk from this virus take experimental vaccines and boosters that can damage their fertility or cause strokes and other maladies. When conscientious medical professionals speak out to warn about these adverse side effects, have government-compliant media smear them as “vaccine deniers,” large social media companies censor their voices and the medical establishment threaten to take away their licenses.
Oh, we already had that in 2020 – 2022. And now we’re looking at new Covid variants that have schools demanding a return of the face diapers and mandated jabs.
You might think from demonstrations by groups like “Extinction Rebellion” that they are trying to save the planet in order to save human lives, but maybe they are the shock troops for the large financial interests which fund them.
A 2021 report by Deutsche Bank Research stated: “we may have to ask ourselves the question whether and to what extent we may be willing to accept some kind of eco-dictatorship in order to move towards climate neutrality.”
Or maybe there is a more fundamental problem, human beings themselves. As explained by the writer Adam Kirsch in The Atlantic:
The Bible gives the negative commandment “Thou shalt not kill” as well as the positive commandment “Be fruitful and multiply,” and traditionally they have gone together. But if being fruitful and multiplying starts to be seen as itself a form of killing, because it deprives future generations and other species of irreplaceable resources, then the flourishing of humanity can no longer be seen as simply good. Instead, it becomes part of a zero-sum competition that pits the gratification of human desires against the well-being of all of nature—not just animals and plants, but soil, stones, and water.”[ii]
There you have it. To Malthusian theorists like Dennis Meadows, environmental eco-terrorists, and woke corporate masters, the human race is seen as a threat not just to the well-being of animals and plants, but even to dirt, stones and water. Time to keep your mouth shut and get in line with your ration card. The rocks and dirt will thank you. The Brave New World has arrived.
