Trans Rights Open Door to Male Supremacy
Is this Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, or the United States of America?
It isn’t enough that female athletes who have trained for tens of thousands of hours see their opportunities to compete taken by “transgender women,” aka biological men like “Lia Thomas” who competed as a male named William Thomas at U. of Penn before deciding to grow his hair long, wear earrings, inject some estrogen and join the female swimming team. It’s not enough that women athletes like Riley Gaines and her teammates were forced to undress in front of Thomas after a meet last year.
Gaines recounts how, “we were not forewarned that we would be sharing a locker room with [the transgender Lia Thomas/William Thomas]. We did not give our consent, they did not ask for our consent, but in that locker room we turned around, and there’s a 6’4” biological man dropping his pants and watching us undress, and we were exposed to male genitalia.”[i]
"People are terrified, especially speaking from my experience of talking to other NCAA swimmers specifically. Lia Thomas’s teammates even. They are told their school has made their stance for them. They are told if they feel uncomfortable seeing male genitalia in the locker room, they should seek counseling resources. They're told they will never get into grad school if they speak out."
After five decades of Title IX protections for women’s sports, women are now forced to subject their naked bodies to the gaze of male strangers who, just a year earlier, were competing as “William,” or “Bob,” or “Chris.”
This is not just limited to the locker rooms of college athletes. Female inmates in California face physical and legal consequences if they complain about a state law (California Senate Bill 132, enacted and implemented in 2021)) that allows men who identify as “trans” to request to be transferred to women’s prisons.
In February 2022, a female inmate at the Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF) in Chowchilla, Cathleen Quinn, filed a complaint prior to her parole board hearing where she told commissioners from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) that she feared for her safety following the implementation of SB132.[ii]
On two occasions, Quinn saw a trans-identified male inmate, Michael Contreras, who now uses the name Eva Reeves, ignore signs that the restroom she was in was being used. Another rules violation report (RVR) by a different inmate in July 2022 alleged that Michael Contreras/Eva Reeves walked in on Quinn while she was showering, even though she hung a towel on the outside of the shower enclosure as a sign that it was in use.
An article written by the transgender Reeves acknowledges that “consensual sex takes place” between trans-identified biological male inmates and female inmates. Reeves also said those trans inmates in the women-only prison “have a penis and get erections.”
Despite the commission initially granting Cathleen Quinn her parole, the decision was vacated by the whole board of commissioners after she was accused of false reporting, “misgendering” and harassing her Trans harasser.
Following this incident and a few others, female inmates have stopped filing complaints “because they’re so afraid of this retaliatory kind of action.”
Seven different women inmates at CCWF have alleged that at least one woman and “possibly more” were impregnated after being housed with a male inmate following SB132, known as the “Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity” act. The law states that male inmates can transfer to women’s facilities even if they do not claim to have a female “gender identity,” meaning those who identify as “non-binary” or “gender-fluid” are also eligible. The state prison administration clearly understood these potential results since it began to hand out contraceptives to female inmates in July, 2021, when SB132 was being implemented.
Instead of defending the privacy and safety of the female prisoners, the ACLU has made efforts to intervene on behalf of male inmates, some of whom have been convicted for rapes they committed, who want to be housed with women. Defenders of the female inmates confess how intimidated they are to face the ACLU, with its vast resources and high-powered lawyers.
It’s troubling to see that the National Collegiate Athletic Association as well as the vast resources of the state of California and of the ACLU are arrayed, not to defend the privacy and safety of women, but instead to reinforce the right of men identifying as trans/binary/gender-fluid to invade women’s private spaces. Women are learning to keep their mouths shut in the face of a bureaucracy siding with their male tormentors.
Is this Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, or the United States of America? Another example of how transgender ideology has re-opened the gate to male supremacy, erasing five decades of federal protections for women.
